Turning the Fundamentals of an Online Business into Cash

Hi Readers

1. Start with the money

Most people start from where they are and try to figure out how to get to the money.

Fundamental truth: it’s all about the end-game. Start there. Imagine your ideal client
and imagine him giving you money. Then ask yourself, “Why did he give me this money?
What did I do for him?” Then take another step back and ask yourself, “What conversation
did I have with him to convince him to give me that money?” Continue backward until you
arrive at you and your product, instead of starting with the product you have and figuring
out how you will make money from that.

2. Build a plan

Next, you want to take that path and build it out into a full-force plan. Figure out each
and every one of the steps that gets you from the money back to you. Build each step out
and refine it. This will turn into a client path for you, and it will also show you what
you need to work on in your business to get where you want to be. Also, you need steps you can measure. One of the biggest mistakes you can make in your plan is to have an expectation and not consistently measure your progress.

3. Don’t get on a bandwagon

Social Media BandwagonNow that you have your plan set, use it as a filter to accept or reject all of the opportunities
that come your way. If someone calls to offer you a system for pay-per-click ads, look at your plan and see if you can plug it in. The plan is your puzzle box-top that will tell you whether an opportunity is a missing piece to your business, or just one of those bright, shiny objects. Most importantly, don’t do something just because you see someone else doing it successfully. It may be working for them, but then again their overall plan may be much different than yours.

4. Dig in

As I shared with you, my family runs coal barges up and down the Kanawha River in West Virginia. When the paddle wheels on that boat begin to turn, the barges and barges of coal fight back against ever moving. But before long, the boat begins to move. And eventually, the momentum of the barges is taking the boat upstream so powerfully that it is difficult to stop.

Keep in mind that there is a lot of effort required to get your business off the ground. You’ll
begin by working harder than you’re being rewarded. This is just you building up momentum. Do NOT change course.

Don’t worry. Before long, just like those coal barges, all of that momentum will build up and soon your barge will be sailing on the river, and you’ll be enjoying the fruits of all the momentum you’ve built.

You’re NOT going to take perfect action every time. You will have setbacks and upset. Everything will NOT work out. But if you take the action required to consistently push through the resistance, you WILL succeed.
